What Happens in a Home Visit Physiotherapy Assessment?
We know that inviting someone into your home — whether for your child, a loved one, or yourself — is a big step.
Our home visit physiotherapy assessments are designed to feel safe, unrushed and supportive, with care tailored entirely to the person in front of us.
Here’s what you can expect.
1. A calm, unrushed conversation
Every visit starts with listening.
We’ll take time to understand:
- What’s been happening
- Any medical or surgical history
- Current challenges
- Your goals (or your child’s / loved one’s goals)
For children, this often looks like play-based observation.
For post-operative and elderly patients, it’s about understanding comfort, confidence and day-to-day function.
There’s no rush — and no pressure.
2. Assessment in the comfort of your own home
Because we come to you, we can assess movement in the environment that actually matters.
This might include:
- Walking, transfers, stairs or getting in and out of bed
- Balance, strength, coordination, or mobility
- Functional activities like dressing, playing, or moving around the home
- Post-operative movement and recovery progress
For children, assessments are age-appropriate and gentle.
For elderly patients, safety, dignity and confidence are always prioritised.
3. Clear, simple explanations
Once we’ve completed the assessment, we’ll explain what we’ve found.
You’ll understand:
- What’s contributing to the problem
- What’s normal in recovery — and what’s not
- What can be improved with physiotherapy
- How we can help moving forward
We welcome questions from parents, carers and family members.
4. A personalised rehabilitation plan
If physiotherapy is appropriate, we’ll outline a clear, tailored plan.
This may include:
- Hands-on treatment
- Gentle exercises or movement strategies
- Support with confidence, balance or independence
- Advice for parents or carers to support progress between visits
Everything is adapted to the individual — not a one-size-fits-all approach.
5. Supportive, pressure-free care
There is no obligation to continue after the assessment.
Our role is to provide clarity, reassurance and expert guidance — so you can make informed decisions with confidence.
Our goal
Our aim isn’t just physical improvement.
It’s to help children move with confidence, support recovery after surgery and enable older adults to stay safe, independent, and comfortable in their own homes.

What families say about starting here
"The physiotherapist arranged visits at our convenience and immediately built a bond of trust.
They were positive, with such a ‘can-do’ attitude — it was infectious. Their communication skills and knowledge were fantastic. They were realistic, encouraging, and brought fun into the sessions.
Mum has done so well and has been given the tools to continue making progress. I would wholeheartedly recommend them and regularly tell friends how brilliant they were.”
